Unreal Editor (UT & UT2004) !

Well i decided after all this time i really should learn to use unreal editor and low and behold it's actually not that complicated :P i expected it to be intense but it's pretty simple to whip up some (simple) map areas to play in

As soon as i get the hang of it (And some more time) i'll see what i can do about a little mess about map of our own (Fingers Crossed)...

i've always loved the unreal approach to making maps, starting with a filled space and carving out your map (subtracting) makes far more sense. Personally I always preferred to rely on bsp and forego the static mesh route, but ut2kx forces you to use them for movers and such. I used to make loads of trap maps to find ever more gruesome ways to send bots to their deaths. Squishers, meat grinders and self-telefragging with plenty of gutters and slides for the giblets to rain down and collect together. UT3 mostly it stays the same you just have to do things differently to get the same results so it is like learning it all over again, sadly. But UT2kx and ut99 real easy.
If you get stuck just ask.

Well it turns out i suck at making maps but i can do some simple things, I'll continue to have a play around and see what i can come up with.

Luckily i am not stuck with anything i just dont seem to have the inspiration/or/imagination to make something i wanted to keep playing with although i did try out a really BIG map area for instagibbers that seemed to work really well but i deleted it because it pissed me off :P Going to have a fresh start in a bit and see if i can make something to keep me happy...

Also, what programs and tools do i need to have a play around with ut/ut2004 skins?

It's been a very long time since i used upaint (for personal skin changes) and i never really looked into hosting skins on the server much but that was because i couldnt find any decent info in the first place, anyway i figured why not have a play around again ;)...

I've never done any skin editing, but since the stock set are stored alongside textures, exporting them should be a doddle so you can edit as you please. But no idea how to host them serverside, not usually done, custom skins are usually clientside only.
