I've been waiting on a backup file from someone to get things fixed but it is not going to happen so here's a fresh forum for us to blow up!

Cant get member details and posts from old files??

I take it you didnt have a backup of the MySQL database files then... cos thats where everything is stored. Only things you will have to store from the FTP are any mods you add to the forums etc.

If you guys need any help give me a shout... Vamp knows Im not too shabby at getting a site up and running. Also you might wanna have a look at Nuke Evolution. It uses the same forums as this (phpBB2) but is a better "portal" in what you can do with it. The upgrade is pretty painless and you will be able to transfer everything from here (members,posts etc) onto NukeEVO.

Like I say, just a thought. Congrats on getting things up and running again tho.... remember, backup your SQL database at least once a month... then if things go pearshaped you wont lose too much. (which reminds me... theres something Ive not done in a while LoL).

It sucks when things go wrong, they usualy go MAJOR wrong...

To start with i figured that if i do a complete backup in cPanel then i wouldnt have to worry if anything went wrong but for some reason it wouldnt accept the backup when we needed it

I tried to get the people who hosts us to fix things if they could but they tried pretty much the same tactics with the backup/restore but the only real reply i got was that the backup file was either corrupt or that there was some form of bug that was transfered when i brought my old files onto these servers

So far i've backed up onece or twice and the restore works with them so all being well if anything does go wrong we should be covered.
Luckily we didnt have a great deal on here because we only just really got things up and running a few weeks ago! Still was a bummer though
